Painter, graphic designer and an educator, Ahmed Shibrain was a renowned African modernist and one of the founding members of The Khartoum School in the 1960s. His work integrated aspects of Arabic calligraphy and Pan-African aesthetic and cultural traditions. He studied at London’s Central School of Art before returning to found several institutions in Sudan.
