FAHRELNISSA ZEID

b. 1901, Istanbul
d. 1991, Amman

Fahrelnissa Zeid was a prominent figure in Istanbul's avant-garde art scene before relocating to Paris. Influenced by stained glass and mosaic design, her monumental abstract works from the late 1940s to 1960s challenge geometric and perspectival norms. Zeid's artistic journey took her across different cities, where she developed a distinct language that merges figurative and non-objective elements across diverse mediums, exemplifying her exploration of time, matter and nature.
