NAM JUNE PAIK

b. 1932, Seoul
d. 2006, Miami

Hailed as the godfather of video art, Nam June Paik was a visionary whose innovative work blended technology, performance and visual arts. He challenged traditional artistic boundaries and laid the foundation for the contemporary new media art movement. Paik's

art practice was influenced by rapid technological advancements and the anti-arts movements of his time.    In his artworks and writing, he professed that ‘the future is now’ and in 1974 coined the term, ‘electronic superhighway’—setting the pace for the ‘information superhighway’ that we would later refer to as the mass medium that is the internet.
