David Koloane was a multidisciplinary artist, activist, writer and curator who contributed immensely to the art scene in apartheid-era South Africa through his teaching, mentoring and establishment of local institutions. His abstract, textured cityscapes and imaginative, populated compositions often deal with the human condition and socio-political narratives.
